Products and publication
Product→Variant / Media→Catalog
Catalog and Publication control channel and market visibility; creating a product does not publish it everywhere.Shopify Channel and System Integration
From products, pricing, and inventory to orders, fulfillment, and customer events, define ownership, direction, and recovery before choosing how systems connect.
Model around Shopify objects
Shopify separates product, inventory, fulfillment, and customer data into distinct objects and permissions. Define who can write to each object and which system wins a conflict to prevent overwritten data and duplicate fulfillment.

External systems can adjust quantities such as available inventory; Shopify manages the committed state created by orders.Order→FulfillmentOrder→Fulfillment / Return
One order can produce multiple delivery groups or fulfillment orders, so an order number cannot be treated as a single shipment.Customer→Consent→CRM / Marketing
Customer and order data require the relevant access scopes. Public apps must also process mandatory privacy webhooks for data requests and deletion.Integration paths
Do not stack tools merely to claim broad connectivity. Prefer official channels, use established connectors when cross-platform management is required, and build custom interfaces only when business rules demand them.
Traffic channels such as Google and Meta require landing-page product and price consistency. Checkout channels such as TikTok Shop can use Channel Markets for dedicated catalogs, availability, pricing, and currency.
Shopify Marketplace Connect can publish products to marketplaces such as Amazon and Walmart and centralize order handling. Account eligibility, listing fields, currency, shipping, and returns still need platform-specific review.
Map InventoryItem × Location to InventoryLevel, return fulfillment against FulfillmentOrder, and handle customer data according to access, consent, and privacy-deletion requirements.
Use Shopify's documented constraints as design inputs
A connector logo shows only potential support. Verify Shopify's object model, app access scopes, GraphQL query cost, and how the integration handles duplicate, out-of-order, or missed webhooks.
Webhooks are not a database mirror: Shopify does not guarantee event order and recommends periodic reconciliation. Integration design should include idempotency, retries, backfills, and a manual recovery path.
Delivery path
Identify who creates and who can change product, inventory-location, order-fulfillment, and customer data.
Test access scopes, query cost, batch boundaries, state mapping, duplicate events, and failure recovery.
Monitor webhooks, schedule backfills, retain a manual replay path, and upgrade against supported stable API versions.
