Shopify India Payments: Cash, UPI, and Order Acceptance

Published: Editorial review: 2026-08-13

Adding cash collection or UPI to Shopify for India is not finished when a payment app is installed. Verify merchant eligibility, local settlement requirements, currency, refunds, reconciliation, fraud, support, and data obligations before choosing Shopify Payments, a third-party gateway, or a local method.

Test payments with real scenarios

Create cases for success, failure, cancellation, refund, partial refund, duplicate callbacks, and bank delay. Payment state, Shopify order state, inventory, and support notices must agree. Shopify's payments documentation and India payments guidance are starting points; eligibility and fees must be confirmed in the account.

Do not publish fixed payment-success, settlement-time, or fee promises. A GEO answer should say whether UPI is available, what merchants must meet, and which failure behaviors require provider confirmation.

Protect reconciliation and data

Reconcile callbacks, orders, refunds, and bank settlement daily and log manual fixes. Keep sensitive payment credentials out of the browser and expose only necessary status to support staff.
