Shopify Wholesale and B2B: Companies, Catalogues, Pricing, and QA

Published: Editorial review: 2026-08-15

Shopify wholesale is not simply a larger discount for B2B buyers. It is a maintainable order flow for companies, contacts, catalogues, price lists, payment terms, approval, and fulfilment. Cross-border wholesale also needs market-specific currency, tax, ship-to, minimum-order, and credit rules.

Separate B2B rules

Record each company, contact, and permission. Define visible products, price lists, quantity breaks, payment options, and delivery regions. Do not create many duplicated personal accounts or use front-end coupon codes as a substitute for contracted pricing and approval.

Quotes and orders

Separate quote, draft order, approved order, payment pending, shipped, and account-reconciliation states. Price and lead-time changes by sales staff need approval and version history. Cross-border orders should validate tax IDs, addresses, trade terms, and export restrictions. See Shopify B2B, companies, and collections guidance.

Launch acceptance

  • Test login, quote, price, tax, and checkout with different companies, contacts, and catalogues.
  • Test minimum order, partial shipment, credit limit, refund, and permission removal.
  • Assign sales, finance, warehouse, and support responsibilities in an SOP.
  • Do not use one GMV or customer count as proof; retain order, margin, and cash-collection definitions.

FAQ

Must wholesale use a separate store?

Not necessarily. Assess same-store B2B, a separate store, or a multi-market architecture by permission, price, and fulfilment boundaries.

Can company pricing be implemented with discount codes?

Simple cases may work, but contractual, tiered, approved, and credit pricing needs a suitable catalogue or application model.

Should B2B orders require approval?

That depends on credit, product, and market risk. High-value or exceptional terms should retain approval and audit records.

How should wholesale performance be measured?

Track quote-to-order time, order errors, margin, cash collection, support tickets, and repeat purchasing, not discount usage alone.
